Molecular distillation is a distillation method operated under high vacuum, where the average free path of the vapor molecules is greater than the distance between the evaporating surface and the condensing surface.Thus, the liquid mixture can be separated by the difference of evaporation rate of each component in the feed liquid.
At a given temperature, the lower the pressure, the greater the average free path of the gas molecules.When the pressure in the evaporation space is very low (10-2 ~ 10-4 mmHg) and the condensation surface is close to the evaporation surface, and the vertical distance between them is less than the average free path of the gas molecules, the vapor molecules vaporized from the evaporation surface can directly reach the condensation surface without colliding with other molecules and condense.

Main Features
According to the characteristics of molecular distillation technology, it has the following obvious advantages over conventional distillation technology in practical industrial application: (1) molecular distillation provides the best separation method for the separation of materials with high boiling point, thermal sensitivity and easy oxidation.Because the molecular distillation is operated at a temperature far below the boiling point of the material, and the material stays for a short time ; (2) molecular distillation can remove the substances, such as organic solvent, odor, etc., which is a very effective method for the dissolution of liquid after solvent extraction; (3) molecular distillation can selectively evaporate the target products, remove other impurities, and separate more than two substances at the same time through multistage separation;
(4) the fractionation process of molecular distillation is a physical process, so it can well protect separated substances from pollution and infringement.
